March 2003 Mission Trip

We thank God for our safe journey to Frontera, Mexico and for the success that God gave us on our trip. It was a little unnerving watching the bombing begin in Iraq just a few hours before our departure out of the country! But God protected us and gave us “one of our smoothest trips ever,” according to veteran campaigner Mark Meeker.

Here are some trip highlights:

Our medical team (Mark Meeker, Shailaja Barnett, Bill Coutts, and Natalie Graham) treated 250 people, including all 70 students in the Amigos de los Niños (ADLN) school.
Our construction team (Hugh Busbea, Chach Bursey, and Mike Barnett) paved the playground so that the children don't have to get dirty during recess.
Our evangelism team (Jon and Brenna Camp and Trey Chandler) visited several families, conducted Bible studies and prayer walks, and Jon preached to a local Mexican congregation.
Molly Bursey did a great job taking care of 4-month-old Ben! (Jon and Brenna's baby) Molly also helped with the medical clinic.
We encouraged Miguel and Maria Amaya and the other church members and ADLN staff. Maybe they encouraged us even more!
We had over 300 people in attendance at an evangelism crusade / pig roast in Diana Laura, a poor community on the outskirts of Frontera.
Chach captured hours of video footage that will be used in a professional quality ad package for ADLN.
Hugh gets the "Most Valuable Player" award for fixing our plumbing problems in the housing facility on the 2nd floor of the ADLN School.

The biggest highlight was the baptism of Rosa, the English teacher at ADLN. Rosa has served ADLN as the English teacher for the last six years. We're excited for Rosa and pray that God continues to bless her as she seeks Him.
