ADLN Newsletter - February 3, 2002
The Amigos De Los Niños(ADLN) School in Frontera, Coahulia, Mexico has 75 students enrolled in three classes that are similar to a pre-kindergarten program in the U.S. The classes help prepare the students for elementary school and are required for enrollment for the public school system. The ADLN School is preparing these young students for a successful elementary school education. Another component of an ADLN School education is the provision of a school uniform, one meal daily, a yearly physical and vitamins, and a great God-centered education. The ADLN School has three teachers, two teacher assistants, a school administrator, an English teacher, and a school custodian. Please understand that your contributions make this Christian education possible for the 75 students.
Amigos De Los Niños Board Update and Information:
As you probably know, Amigos De Los Niños (ADLN) is a non-profit, tax-exempt charity that is lead by a board of dedicated Christians. At the last board meeting held in December 2001 in Little Rock, AR the board made a few organizational changes. In order to reach maximum effectiveness, the board has divided into three working groups: 1) Medical Mission Trips, 2) Oversight of the ADLN School, and 3) Financial and Fund-raising. The ADLN board now has 15 members and they are Carl and Una Carpenter, Mark and Kathy Meeker, Gerald and Angela Driskill, Jon and Brenna Camp, Lynn Cook, Keith and Lynn Morrison, Mike and Carol Lybarger, Trey and Bonnie Chandler, and Tracey Breashers. The board also elected Trey Chandler, CPA as the board treasurer. Dr. Lynn Morrison will oversee the Medical Mission working group. Lynn Cook will oversee the fund-raising working group. Mike Lybarger will oversee the ADLN School working group. The fund-raising working group will create and maintain an ADLN newsletter that will be published three times a year. The ADLN board also asked that a yearly financial statement and accounting be distributed yearly to all donors. The ADLN board meets twice a year and anyone is welcome to attend. The next meeting is set for February 9, 2002 in Fayetteville, AR.
ADLN Pharmacy Completed:
A functioning pharmacy room has been completed at the ADLN school building. The pharmacy is located on the second floor of the building. The pharmacy has plenty of shelving that was constructed by a team of high-school students during a June Mission trip by the Little Rock Church, Little Rock, AR. The teens were lead by able carpenters Hugh Busbea and Eddie Morris. The money to complete the work on The clinics was contributed in a special collection at Little Rock Church in early 2001. The money also helped furnish two rooms on the second floor of the school building with bunk beds and mattresses so that future mission trips will have a comfortable, clean, and especially cheap place to sleep while in Mexico. The work will help the clinics that are held in March and October of the year in the school building to function much smoother. Mark Meeker, longtime ADLN pharmacist, suggested the plan to the carpenters and they went to work! The Pharmacy also has room for a small waiting and patient consultation area. Medicines and medical supplies to furnish the pharmacy have been collected and are on their way to Mexico.
Financial Needs of ADLN for 2002:
ADLN is a non-profit organization that raises money to fund a school for Mexican Children in Frontera, Mexico and oversees and organizes medical mission trips to the same area. The board that leads the ADLN ministry contributes time and money and is very committed to this ministry. If you are receiving this newsletter, you have been involved with this ministry before and are probably familiar with the past success of this organization. We also want to share with you that our ministry has grown. Through the generous giving of those involved, the school building in Frontera, Mexico is complete and we now have a facility that is worth $15,000. The school building has 3 classrooms downstairs, a downstairs office for the school administrator, the building also has 5 rooms upstairs that are used as a kitchen for the school, two bunk rooms for the mission trips and a pharmacy.
The building needs of the ADLN School are in great shape!
We ask your help with the ongoing funding needs for the ADLN School. The board has committed to raise $3,100 per month that is required to pay the school staff; feed the school children one meal a day, and furnish school uniforms. We have recently added another class and teacher's salary to our monthly commitment. Please consider how you and your family could help meet the goal of $3100 a month.
If you would like to give to ADLN, please make your check payable to ADLN and place it in the LRC collection plate or mail it to the church office. Thanks for helping!
