One suitcase per person and one carry on per person would be very helpful. Make sure you pack a few clothes in your carry on in case your luggage is lost in flight.
Do not take anything of value. There are very few "secure" places in our trip. This includes cash in excess of $100, jewelry, electronic devices such as walkmans, CD's, and expensive clothing or shoes.
Please dress very modestly (by our standards). This includes not wearing shorts while we are in Mexico on the workdays. You may sleep in shorts in the school building, but may not wear them outside the second floor rooms where we will sleep. Don't wear tank tops.
Any clothing that is taken including shoes will get dirty. Generally, older cotton clothing is the best for what we are doing. You may wear "scrubs" in the medical clinic.
You must keep your travel identification on you at all times. This includes a picture ID and official copy of your birth certificate or a current passport. When we are working, it will be easiest to wear them in a travel pouch around your neck. (You can purchase these travel pouches at Wal-mart or Target in the travel section.)
Don't bring anything electrical. Mexico is on a different electrical system and anything plugged into their outlets will be burned up. This includes hair dyers, curling irons, and radios.
Lunch food for four days during the clinic!
